Jaroslav Pížl

Jarolav Pížl is the author of five collections of poetry which are marked by a peculiar imagery and a keen sense in his verse for the spoken word. His latest work, however, is a novel – Book Collectors / Sběratelé knih. The author presented this work of his also abroad – First Novel Festival, Budapest, 2006; Warszaw Book Fair, 2006.
In the 1980s Jaroslav Pížl studied acting at the Theatre and Music Conservatory in Prague, completing his studies in art history at Prague University in 1993. In the first half of the 1990s he worked freelance in radio and television, also appearing with his poems in Germany, Austria and Denmark. Since 1995 he has taught speech technique at the dramaturgy faculty of the Jezek Conservatory, and textual interpretation at the musical faculty.
