David Zábranský: Štern´s Attempt to Love / Šternův pokus milovat

David Zábranský - Štern´s Attempt to Love / Šternův pokus milovat

Love is born in cramps, infinitely long and slow ones. This birth has been going on since we ourselves were born. And sometimes it does not succeed in being born before death arrives. Few of us learn immediately something we have never seen before.
As to time, place and narrator, Štern´s Attempt to Love is a compact novella which takes place over several days at the film festival in the spa town of Karlovy Vary. It is narrated by the inner voice of its main character, 30-year old Bertrand Štern, who wants for nothing save a knowledge of that which is often referred to as an “interpersonal relationship”.
